Yes, our trips are planned with safety in mind. We have local contacts, satellite communication (if needed), and experienced guides who know the terrain and the people. That said, these are remote adventures—there are no hospitals in the jungle, and medical support is limited. We recommend all travelers to have travel insurance that covers emergency evacuation.
The official travel advisories often apply to the entire region of West Papua and don’t reflect the actual situation in the regions where we organize the expeditions which only take place in areas we know well and are safe from political tensions.
Don’t have any worries and feel free to contact us directly to get specific information about the safety aspects of your adventure.

Medical care is extremely limited in remote areas. We carry a basic first-aid kit, but no professional medical staff is guaranteed. Travel is at your own medical risk, and we recommend bringing your own personal medication. In case of a medical emergency our guides are prepared to provide assistance for a transport to the closest suitable medicinal facility.
In case of a serious incident, evacuation might only be possible by helicopter.
This process can take several hours - or even longer in extreme conditions.
All participants must be in good health and prepared for the physical challenges of the trip.
We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical evacuation from remote areas.
